Estate Agent Schmagent.....
So, here's our home in rural North Yorkshire, right on the village green. See the tree in the foreground? My son thinks that's his, complete with swing that lazily hangs from a bough. It's an unusual property insomuch as it's a converted church reading rooms (which, being a childrens author and all was an immediate draw when Emma and I first saw the property). We've lived here very happily for about four years but all good things have to come to an end - we're going to move to the North West for a couple of reasons, namely to be nearer to AJ, my son, and also closer to production of FRANKENSTEIN'S CAT, which will take place at Mackinnon & Saunders studio in Altrincham. Optimistic soul as I am I doubt even I could remain chipper if I knew I had to commute over the M62 from North Yorks.
I mention the house and the potential sale as we had two estate agents visit us today. I've heard of quotes differing slightly but £50,000???!!!?!?! That's the difference between the two and to say we were flabbergasted is an understatement. Have another visiting on Wednesday to give us some better indication but I think we've made out minds up already on who to go with, and no, not just because their quote was £50k higher! :-D

Holly Mackerel Curtis, you certainly know how to live it up!
I’m going to read Tales from the Wyrdwood the first chance I get. Keep up the great work man!
I cannot believe the nonsense he thinks will keep you poor blog-followers amused - our domestic life is hardly riveting reading...
Man, that's a purdy house!
Oh my gosh! I want that house! I love houses that look like that.
Silly Mrs. Bling, this is some awesome reading stuff here. :)
Oh the joy of moving house... Good luck C. Good luck with FC too.
It is indeed a pretty house which is why we're kinda sad that we have to leave, but family has to come first.
Mrs Bling - this is legitimate blog news as it directly ties in with the FRANKS CAT production. Honest. In no way was this simply an opportunity for me to blow off steam regarding a useless foppish estate agent...
Cheers Justin, hope you like it sir!
Ann, quite right. They're all crooks.
Paul- that wasn't a "backwoodsman" purdy was it? Like Ned Beatty's mouth?
I hope you didn't mention your blog to the Estate Agents!
Meh! If I did they'll be on here having a winge. Tell a lie, just the foppish pompous one, the other chap was lovely :-)
I hope a potential buyer doesn't read this either - they might try to knock off 50k!!
Mrs Bling, Curtis' obscure rablings are always fun. I'm looking forward to hearing about the day Curtis inspected his navel and found a gateway to Narnia behind the blue lint!
...does anyone know why £50,000 is know as £50k, I've always wondered!
Don't know about blue lint, you'd find a blooming cotton field in my rather ample navel!
As for the potential buyer, that's just it. The lower quote is WOEFULLY off target and nothing like what even the national average is, based upon what we paid for the property four years ago. We've heard nothing but bad things about said EA so we're treating their quote with a liberal fistful of salt.
With regards the other question, I believe the "k" is short for "kilo", as in kilogramme, kilometre etc. Goodness, I sound like a physics teacher, and I like it!!! :-D
Hey CJ, thanks for stopping by my blog and also for the compliments on how good looking the nuns are here in NYC. Trust me, its not all of them and even with me , its only after I shave that my pure beauty shines. I am truly honored to be writing this. Your art and your writing is inspirational. Your Tales From the Wyrdwood pulled me in like a magnet. A great read! As for me I am art directing 10 episodes of an animated series for MTV called "Friday". A spin off of the 3 movies with Ice Cube and Chris Tucker.
Good luck with the move
Jimmy Nock
rabling, mr bushnell? Is that like a cross betwixt a raving and a rambling?
Bling, I've told you before about inviting random Hartlepool people into your navel. They'll nick anything. I bet he's already sold your lint as roof insulation...
Hey Jimmynock
Good to hear from you, squire, welcome to the hairiest nun the western world has seen (outside of Donegal, that is). I know the FRIDAY films so reckon you could pull a CLERKS with the animated series, could be really cool- same audience as the films then? Thanks for the kind words on my scribblings and doodlings, much appreciated!
That house picture is tiny !! Make it BIGGER !!!!!!
I would do if I hadn't gone and let my digi-cam go paddling in the Irish Sea!
Anyway, size isn't everything Glazey........
It's not a small picture, it's the ACTUAL SIZE of the building.
The Blings are actually 'wee folk'.
Do you mean like Prince ??
I hope he doesn't mean we smell of aqua vitae.......
£50,000???!!!?!?!
that is a GORGEOUS house.
Cheers,
Belle
