I'm looking over my shoulder...

Somebody's after my job! This is a drawing Andrew did while we were over in Baton Rouge, of an alligator no less (but then, you could tell that, couldn't ya?) Note the striking blue colouration, ferocious teeth and yellow spikes on back. The large green things in the background are trees in the swamp, the ones on the far left and right actually having insects on them. We were out for dinner one night and he decided to do a drawing for each of the speakers who were at the table. Dougy Pincott successfully wound my boy up by thanking him for the drawing of the shrimp, a mistake which naturally Andrew tried to rectify. Dougy finally settled on a name for his alligator, "Shrimpy", which I suspect was a continuation of the ruse...

Well from one Andrew to another you tell him from me that it's a cracking picture. An creepy because of the thing looking out of the hole in the tree !!

That is sinister isn't it... the only thing missing from the picture is the sound of banjo music picking up in the distance...

That and Ned Beatty !

That's excellent.

So, is he 'the drawrer' in his school?

Jo Bling said...

When the reception class was asked to draw their teacher for their illustrated tea towel, he was the one asked to do the teacher's portrait as I recall, so I guess so! :-D

Excellent. I was "the drawrer" when I was at primary school too.

Then I went to secondary school, where I faded into the obscurity of being "a drawrer" and survived the bullies by drawing tattoos on their freckly skin in felt tip pen.

Hey Jobling!

I'm the one that asked you to draw the moose in the book at Red Stick. Deviating from the original topic, and avoiding singing the Schnappi song, I was wondering, do you still sell those cards that you showed during your lecture? I'd love to have a copy of that ice skating one.

Heya Dragonhead

I do indeed recall the moose request- so what was with that?! :-D As for the cards, the "Slice to Meet you" painting never made it that far, it simply remained a supporting piece. Can certainly send you a jpg of it though if you forward me your mail.

Also, Mr Culbard, I don't think you can describe it as "surviving" the bullies when you're the one drawing on the bullies freckles, having them in what I can only imagine is a half Nelson...
