So, some turd shot my cat the other day.
Ernie (for that's his name) is currently at the vets, doped up to his eyeballs and awaiting surgery on Friday. He's been shot just where the tail meets the body, he's a fractured vertebrae, has lost quite a bit of blood, and is on anti-inflammatories and pain relief. On Friday they're going to be operating on him, cleaning the shrapnel out (they don't know what kind of firearm caused it yet) and then amputating his poor tail.
Yes, would happily have my hands around the throat of the sick scumbag that did this, but chances are slim. Police will be following up with an investigation, but I personally will be using the platform of Frankenstein's Cat to get a message out there to kids who can get access to firearms, be they BB guns, air rifles or bigger beasts. If it's at all possible I'm going to try and align myself with Cat and Cruelty to Animals charities to raise awareness of this kind of thing. I find it baffling that any sane-minded person could harm, injure or even kill a family's dear pet.
With Frankenstein's Cat starting transmission in February there's a chance I can direct a bit of publicity on this and highlight a very real problem.

That's a bloody disgrace, who the hell would do something like that !? I'd string them up by their nuts !!! Hope you're cat get better soon man !
If something good can come out of this event then you can hopfully make a difference for other cats. (God, I'm actually being sincere but it sounds so hokey!)
Hope the cat is ok - Wait till he tells all his cat friends what happened, he'll be the hippest cat around.
Well, you could have a lunatic with some manner of firearm living in your neighborhood or some perfectly rational person driven to such actions because your cat's used their garden as a toilet. The latter is unfortunately more common in these cases. I've met no end of seemingly normal people who've said they've taken pellet guns to neighbors cats using their gardens as litter trays (what's wrong with using a water hose or bucket of water? That's what I usually do).
I hope Ernie recovers quickly from his operation.
Is Ernie the same one who drove the fastest milk cart in the west or am I getting him mixed up with someone else ?!
That's just it - there's nothing rational or normal about using a gun against a cat just because it's had a dump in your garden. It's sick and it's simply wicked.
A large part of me hopes that it's a kid who has done this, then at least if I can spotlight some publicity of this onto the story there's a chance of educating him/her (but lets face it, it's probably a him). If it's a grown adult then I'm shouting into the wind, because if they haven't learned that it's wrong to shoot pets by the time they've grown up then they never will.
The RSPCA have done some research and we're hoping that the former is the case.
There's something fundamentally ****** up about sick scrotes that do this to much-loved family pets, which lets face it are key parts of our families. I have to tell my son now on Christmas Eve what's happened to poor Ernie. That's going to be fun.
Thanks for kind words guys.
How awful and so sad. I do hope Ernie gets well soon. My friend manages the RSPCA on the Wirral and it happens so much. Some right old mean.....well you know what I mean. Hope the kids haven't been to disturbed.
Snuggle cuddle for Ernie xx

Hope Ernie is on the mend, that's a terrible story and I hope something good can come out of it at least.
I won't be at Animex this year but I will be at Exeter - it's a bit closer and I can just go for the weekend stuff and not miss any work.
See you there!
Sorry to hear about this too Curtis, as a cat owner myself I am totally with you on this one and I know for a fact that Kinnon will be too. I hope that everything goes okay with the operation.
That's horrible!! :C
Glad you are finding some way to make use of it through FC though.
cruel.
very cruel.
Would Ernie like some help with his recovery from his feline brothers and sisters? Who worked with a Warrington fan?
Would he like a copy of Relax With Cats?
Hey all
Thanks for kind words. Ernie is well on the road to recovery, with his dignity just about intact.
A Cat Named Jimmy - are you also a Warrington fan then? I checked your master's website out and it seems you're the Cheshire Set!
My keeper worked with Darryl VDV for four seasons helping players with the mental side of the game. He also followed Alex Murphy's side to Wembley in the 70's.
And the Relax With Cats CD works for us cats as much as people. Money back if not satisfied!
And finally, another age-related thing. I'm useless at this blog game, so I'll probably check out.
That is horrible what happened to your cat. I am sorry. I hadn't been here for a while and was shocked to hear this.
sorry to hear about your kitty ernie curtis... :(
hope he's doing much better friend! How have you been lately? send me an email and let me know the haps yo!

He's probably been pooing in someone's garden. If my dog came and did his business in your garden you would be well within your rights to have words with me and take legal action if I didn't solve the problem. But because it's a cat your neighbours have no rights, it's ridiculous, you, and only you are responsible for your pets actions. I don't condone cruelty to animals, but I also don't condone irresponsible pet ownership; if you let your cat roam then you are just as to blame as the person who shot him.
thats just a sick, vicious and reprehensible thing that happened to your cat. i'm shocked whenever i hear of incidents like this - but i'm happy your little guy is on the mend.
what more baffling is the post by andrew(anonymous of course) where he equates a dogs actions with a cats. he's obviously a dog owner and i've had this conversation with less-than-smart dog owners like him who somehow feel cheated that their animal isn't allowed to wander off its leash when cats are. i'll state now what i said to them: dogs can rip an arm off of a kid. cats cannot.
so don't try to rationalize cruelty to animals as an understandable reaction to tiny poos in a yard. you sound like an idiot when you do that.
It's a real shame that young people nowadays cannot aim a weapon properly - put em all in the army I say. That'll sharpen their aim!
Hi Curtis
I found this item whilst frantically searching for reasons as to why a cat might come home lame? My beloved Russian Blue - Sacha - just came home in this state after being missing for 15 hours. He will not weightbear nor allow me to touch his back leg - I am a nurse - so the obvious came to mind i.e fracture or fightbite -then thought he might have been shot which is how I found your item. I am just going to let him rest overnight then take him to vet in morning (am in Spain with attendant language problems). I expect your Ernie is well recovered now.
On another matter, I am out here writing a children's book called 'Angel_Kat' which am publishing next April. I want to take it into animation and merchandising and was wondering if you could point me in the direction of someone who might be interested/able to help. I do like the work of Studio Ghibli and would like something similar - line and wash but with soft characterisation. It would be quite a big animation and merchandising project as it has 10 different cat characters (Angel-Kat and nine others). I am doing 2-D illustration page for each chapter of the book but am not up to animation,
Pray that Sacha doesn't have something requiring major surgery for me as I can ill afford it.
Thanks for reading - if you do at all, as your original entry is almost a year old.

Hi - I've come on internet today looking for solace and a way of fighting back . Someone shot my little ginger and white boy on March 24th in my back garden - unfortunately he was killed outright. I am devastated. He would have been 1 year old in 3 weeks time. How can these EVIL EVIL people do such a thing
