There's always next year...

Back from Annecy which was a tremendously fruitful trip, complete with some very interesting and exciting leads on new projects in development. FRANKENSTEIN'S CAT did not win, and possibly suffered from not actually being on the telly yet unlike it's competitors. CHARLIE & LOLA and SHAUN THE SHEEP snaffled the top TV prizes and very worthy winners they were too in my opinion.

Met up with Niel Bushnell and Gordon Fraser while out there (Farmageddon) and Chris Williams, director of Animex. It's fair to say that Niel (inadvertently) supplied most of the laughs and accompanying tears! Also caught up with the delightful Amid Amidi who spent most of the festival eating from what I could tell...

There was a terrific Stand for the Cat at the MIFA tent which was garnering some very enthusiastic responses. We had some cat pawprints graffiti'd onto the carpet in the tent leading through to the stand, plus one of the animators had done a bit of stealth tagging outside aswell. A nice vibe all round.

Thankyou to all the new (and old faces) I met up with and chatted with while out there. And to those of you who we're looking to work with in development, as the great MG would say.... : "Let's get it on!"

Charlie and Lola rules, but I'm sure Frankenstein's Cat will be even better!

You need to update your profile, ya daft shagger. You don't live in "American Werewolf" country anymore, you live "Chris Evans" Country now.

Great to hear you had a good time. I will have to get myself out there next year.

The cat looks class. I was really impressed and, no offense intended, surprised at how good it looked. I was afraid it was gonna be a kinda standard flash tv program, aesthetically, but it's anything but. The backgrounds are jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the line quality is really nice, it looks like ToonBoom or something like that rather than the typically dull flash line.
Brilliant stuff, I wanna see it on telly :)

Hey Curtis, was good to see you last week! Shame you weren't at the Annecy Plus screenings on Friday, that was actually the best party of the week, that I went to anyway, especially after my clothes dried out a bit. And the beer was only 5 or 6 Euros a pint, big difference from most places!

Sorry I didn't make it to the Cat's screening, I was in the big theatre til 3:45 and didn't think I'd make it in time!

Hope to see it some time soon though!

Take care!

Glazey & Paul - cheers chaps, not long now, September I believes...

INJun - OK, OK, but I'd rather go with Pete Postlethwaite or Tim Curry country than the Ginger Guru - either of those guys would prove as scary as a werewolf on a long walk home, especially Pete with his overenlarged proboscis...

Ciaran - thanks man for the lovely words. Such a shame we didn't hook up out there, it was a smashing festival. Your comments on the bgs are especially appreciated :-)

Belf - good to see you there too, buddy. Had a grand time and the Cat was well received all round. We may yet put it back into competition next year, we'll have to see if we can submit an episode from season 2!

No worries. Well I got to meet you at least and the Animex guy at your mifa stand. I met Gus Hughes once but didn't get to meet up with him again after that. Actually, speaking of that..
My friend was in the bonlieu talking about 'The old man and the sea' and after a little bit the man in front turned around and it was Aleksandr Petrov :D ...never know who'll you meet there..

Curtis- Lovely to see you again! I was wandering around in a slight daze on Friday heh. Possible post-graduating blues. Scary world out there!

Will keep trying though.:) You cheered me up by saying hi!

Carol and Linda say hello!

Ciaran - was that YOU with the lass and the other chap at the FRANKS CAT stand? Apologies, I didn't twig if it was!

Brian - it was a hoot, mon!

Gina - nice to see you out there, it seemed to throw you bumping into me out of context :-D

Aye, that was me. More than likely anyway, I just can't remember what day that was. No apologies necessary, MIFA was a bit mental.
